I have been running this free Japanese conversation group since 2014. The reason I started the group was simple. I was studying Japanese by textbook, had one lesson: once a week and barely spoke any Japanese in-between classes. The group started as a meet up with other people in my Japanese class, as a way to study together between lessons. There were a few conversation groups/classes in our city but they cost money and we just wanted to practice together. Once our Japanese friends heard what we were doing, they offered to come along to help us with our homework, and then more and more and more people wanted to attend. Suddenly we had a weekly event, a Japanese language social group, a learning group… a Japanese conversation group…pure Japanese for two hours every week!
Now, of course, that is still not enough for me! I want to give people the opportunity to speak Japanese even more. So I started offering a weekly online conversation group as well to allow people in other parts of the world the opportunity to practice what they have been learning with other Japanese language learners, now we have three calls every week!
